Claire of Woodland Hill Photography took some time out of her very busy schedule to write us a blog post about a wedding that she recently photographed here at The Ravenswood. It was a very special day captured in such a beautiful way –
‘Summer Weddings at The Ravenswood – A West Sussex Wedding Venue
This lovely couple booked me last year and I was so happy to be back photographing at The Ravenswood. This stunning venue was set to become apartments but Sam and her amazing colleagues swooped in and saved it from this fate. This was my first wedding since the new ownership and wow there have been some fantastic improvements already.
The have been ultra busy over the last year to bring this ‘lady’ back to her formal glory.
I couldn’t write a blog without mentioning the bridal getting ready suite – if you check out my Instagram and facebook you will know how much I love it!! It’s such a genius idea and not one that I have never seen in a West Sussex wedding venue before; a dedicated space for the bride and her ‘gals’ to get ready on the morning of the wedding and everything has been thought of here, just everything. It means that the bridal suite remains perfect and special for the bride and groom, which is just as it should be.
My lovely bride and groom had a great day, which ran to perfection thanks to Joanna the wedding planner at The Ravenswood. She really knows her stuff and her aim is to make sure that every detail has been sorted both before and on the day. From a supplier’s perspective having a really
professional wedding planner who actually cares and works with the suppliers to deliver perfection to the bride and groom is refreshing and it makes for a wonderful working environment too.
My bride and groom made the theme of their wedding very personal; there was a brass band playing before and after the wedding ceremony and I thought that was brilliant. What really bowled me over was the band in the evening – it was an 18 piece Glenn Miller Band, wow when we came back from the evening portraiture I couldn’t believe my ears; I had goose bumps. What I really love about my job is the amazing experiences that I get to have and this will certainly go down as a memorable wedding memory. If you are looking for something a little different then take a look at the Les Paul Band http://www.lespaulbigband.co.uk/.
The details that you see in the images have all been made by my lovely bride; each flower hand made from the pages of several books. One of the books was a 1920’s Winnie the Pooh and we all gasped when she said that; after much chuckling she said “don’t worry it was only a third edition”. The trumpets as table centrepieces and I think one may have been one of her own first trumpets made this room quite unique.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my little insight and if you are thinking of a West Sussex wedding venue then you should definitely be booking at appointment with the team to discuss your wedding with them.
I have added a selection of images from the day; I am going to say it was hard trying to narrow it down as I loved them all. There is a hidden gem that stole my heart, a little forgotten garden where I captured a moment of reflection…can you spot it?
